Iranian Navy Flotilla Makes Port Call in India

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The 45th flotilla of Iranian Navy warships docked at the Indian port city of Cochin.

Comprising “Tunb” warship and “Shahid Naqdi” destroyer, the flotilla has recently been sent on a mission in high seas.

Upon arrival at the port, Commander of the flotilla Colonel Qorbani expressed pleasure with expansion of naval relations between the two countries and expressed hope that Iran and India would hold joint naval maneuvers in the future, according to IRNA.

The flotilla is scheduled to leave Cochin Port on Tuesday.

The Iranian Navy has taken steps to expand its missions in international waters and promote cooperation with the navies of friendly countries.

Earlier this month, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari stressed the enhanced presence of his forces in high seas in the future.

“We will have stronger presence in international waters, expand the area of the naval maneuvers, and develop production of equipment,” he said on March 16.
