JCPOA Parties Reaffirm Adherence to Commitments: EEAS

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The European External Action Service (EEAS) issued a statement about the Tuesday meeting of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying all of the participants noted their continued adherence to commitments under the July 2015 nuclear deal.

According to the statement issued on Tuesday, the 5th meeting of the Joint Commission since JCPOA Implementation Day was held in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

Under the terms of the JCPOA, the Joint Commission is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the nuclear deal, it said.

“The Joint Commission was chaired, on behalf of EU High Representative Mogherini, by EEAS Secretary General Helga Schmid and was attended by the E3+3 (China, France, Germany, Russia, United Kingdom, United States) and Iran at the level of Political Directors/Deputy Foreign Ministers” the statement read.

“The meeting provided the opportunity to address the implementation of the JCPOA with regard to nuclear and sanctions related commitments. The Joint Commission particularly welcomed the important progress made on the Arak modernization project, where Chinese and Iranian companies signed the first consultancy services contract on Sunday, 23 April, in Vienna,” the EEAS said.

“Participants discussed the importance of implementation of Annex III of the JCPOA on civil nuclear cooperation and welcomed in this context the recent EU-Iran high-level seminar on international nuclear cooperation.”

“All participants noted their continued adherence to JCPOA commitments and stressed the need to ensure its full and effective implementation,” the statement concluded.
