Islamic Solidarity Games: Karate Fighter Ganjzadeh Takes Iran’s Fourth Gold

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sajjad Ganjzadeh collected another gold medal for Iran in the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games on Sunday.

In Men's Kumite +84kg, Ganjzadeh defeated Turkey’s Enes Erkan 5-3 in the final match.

Bronze medal went to Egyptian Ahmed Elasfar and Azerbaijan’s Asiman Gurbanli.

Narjes Andevari Emamgholinejad in the 10-metre air rifle, karate fighter Nasrin Dousti and judoka Saeid Mollaei have previously won two gold medals for Iran.

Iran’s Mohadeseh Aghaei won the bronze medal in the Women's Kumite +68kg after defeating her Indonesian rival.

Mahsa Afsaneh also seized a bronze medal after defeating her Malaysian opponent Celine Lee 5-0 in women's Kata.

More than 3,000 athletes from 54 countries of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation are competing in 21 sports at the Games which run through May 22.

The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games started May 8 and will last until May 22 in Azerbaijan’s capital.
