Iran’s Sarmayeh Bank Loses to Thailand’s Supreme VC at Asian Women’s Club Volleyball

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Sarmayeh Bank was defeated against Thailand’s Supreme VC 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23) in Group A of the 2017 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship at the Boris Alexandrov Sports Palace in Kazakhstan on Thursday.

Supreme VC’s captain Wilavan Apinyapong scored seven points and delivered in crucial plays, but found difficulty in playing against the Iranian side.

Sarmayeh Bank’s Maedeh Borhani topped all scorers with 20 points and remarked: “We played well in this match. Unfortunately, we lost the last set, when we could almost win it.”

The 2017 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship is being held in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan from May 25 to 31.

The tournament will serve as the Asian qualifiers for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship with the champions qualifying for the world championship.
