Syria Army Recaptures More Areas in Aleppo

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies stepped up their attacks on Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) in Aleppo, liberating more areas from the grip of the Takfiri terrorists on the outskirts of the northwestern province.

On Monday, Syrian forces continued their military operations against Daesh terrorists and restored control over a number of villages in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, Syria’s official SANA news agency reported.

They managed to wrest control of the villages of al-Salyhia, al-Batoshia, Jbab al-Masoudia, Khizraf, al-Faraia, Mostariha, al-Mazzah, al-Wasta, al-Sukaria Sharqia, Bandoka, al-Hamidia, Dour Ahmad Yasien, al-Qahira, al-Boman’a, Khan al-Sha’r, Khirbit al-Soda and al-Himrawi after inflicting major losses on them.

The source added that the operations resulted in the killing and injuring of hundreds of terrorists in addition to the destruction of 115 vehicles, 7 tanks, 6 cars, and 4 cannons.

Over the past six years, Syria has been fighting foreign-sponsored militancy. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated in August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the Syrian crisis until then. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
