In separate messages to his counterparts on Sunday, Larijani hailed Eid al-Fitr, which celebrates the end of the holy month of Ramadan, as a day for “mercy, blessings, brotherhood, and empathy”.
He further expressed the hope that the blessings of Ramadan would lead the Islamic Ummah (community) to a bright future and remove “the dust of discord” from the Muslim world.
Known as the Feast of Breaking the Fast, Eid al-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims all around the world.
The observance traditionally begins with the sighting of the new moon of the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. This year, the Eid falls on June 26 in Iran.
