Iran’s Hadipour Wins Silver at World Taekwondo Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Armin Hadipour Seighalani of Iran claimed a silver medal at the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) World Taekwondo Championships on Sunday.

In the men's under-54kg final match, Hadipour lost to South Korea's Kim Tae-hun 10-6 at Taekwondowon's T1 Arena in Muju, 240 kilometers south of Seoul, South Korea.

Kim, the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist in 58kg, had earlier won world titles in the under-54kg in 2013 and 2015.

The competition is the largest ever in its 44-year history. The WTF said 969 athletes and 796 officials from 183 nations have registered to participate. The 2009 event in Copenhagen had previously been the largest with 928 athletes from 142 nations.
