Syrian Warplanes Hit Daesh Positions in Homs, Raqqa

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian military aircraft targeted the positions of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in Homs, inflicting major losses upon them in the central province.

On Saturday, the Syrian Air Force conducted a number of airstrikes against dens and positions of the Daesh terrorists in the eastern countryside of Homs, killing and injuring dozens of them in the areas of Um al-Rish and Shandakhyiat Ghunaiman, SANA news agency reported.

In a separate development, the Syrian jets pounded the gathering centers of the militants in the districts of Ma’adan and Beer al-Sabkhawai in the southeastern countryside of Raqqa northern province.

Additionally, Syrian forces and their allies continued to make gains in their fight against the Daesh militants in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor and claimed the lives of scores of them in the neighborhoods of al-Kannamat, al-Roshdiya and al-Heiqa.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
