Persepolis Defeats Paykan in Iran Professional League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran Professional League (IPL) leader Persepolis football team defeated Paykan 3-1 on Friday.
Godwin Mensha gave the visiting team a lead in the 10th minute in Tehran’s Shohaday-e Qods Stadium.
Three minutes later Ali Alipour extended the lead with a powerful shot from outside the area.
Paykan pulled a goal back in the 59th minute after Mehdi Shiri found the back of the net from a set-piece.
Alipour was on target once again in the 83rd minute, scoring from close range.
Furthermore, Siahjamegan and Tractor Sazi played out a goalless draw and Sepahan suffered a 1-0 home loss to Foolad.
Persepolis cemented its place at the top of the table with 48 points, followed by Foolad (36) and Zob Ahan (35).
