US After Rift, Despair in Iran, Speaker Warns
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani lashed out at the US government for seeking to foment discord and disappointment in Iran, reminding the Trump administration about the Iranian nation’s insight and wisdom.
As part of attempts to put obstacles in the way of the Islamic Revolution, the enemies are trying to create disappointment among the Iranian people, Larijani said at a Sunday ceremony, held in Iran’s central city of Isfahan to mark the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Despite the existence of economic problems in the country, the Iranian people are wise and insightful, Larijani added, calling for national unity to counter the divisive plots and contribute to the country’s progress.
“The US president makes insulting remarks about the Iranian nation,” the speaker deplored, saying Washington is pushing to incite division in Iran, which has been cited as a main regional challenge in the US national security strategy document.
In comments in April 2017, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei cautioned that the adversaries are looking for economic weak points to harm the Iranian nation, calling on the authorities to push for implementing the Resistance Economy grand plan to thwart such plots.
“I expect the officials to try to correct economic deficiencies and close loopholes as they observe the enemy motive for exploiting the economic weak points,” Ayatollah Khamenei stressed.
