Terrorist Rocket Attacks Kill Civilians in Damascus

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Rocket attacks by terrorist groups in Syria killed at least four people in capital Damascus and wounded several others on Thursday, local sources said.

Terrorists fired 16 rockets at the residential neighborhoods of Damascus on Thursday, killing at least four and injuring 14 civilians, according to SANA.

Since the Syrian Army launched the so-called ‘Operation Damascus Steel’ in February to oust militants from the capital, terrorists have intensified rocket attacks on government-held parts of the city, killing and injuring hundreds of civilians.

Reports say that terrorists have fired a barrage of rockets containing cluster munitions on Damascus on Thursday afternoon.

Thousands of Damascus residents have fled to Syria’s coastal regions in recent weeks in the wake of intensified shelling attacks by terrorists, according to Sputnik.

Terrorist attacks on civilians comes against a backdrop of the Syrian Army’s success to gain territories in Eastern Ghouta, a besieged area on the outskirts of Damascus with some 400,000 people.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has vowed that Syrian forces would continue the campaign until the whole area is retaken.

Eastern Ghouta fell to militants in 2012, months after Syria plunged into crisis.
