TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least 12,000 elementary students returned to school on Tuesday after the Syrian government successfully rehabilitated four schools on the outskirts of the capital Damascus.

Syrian education officials inaugurated four schools in Kafr Batna and two others in Saqba, Syria’s official SANA news agency reported.

Head of Basic Education Department of Damascus Countryside Directorate, Abdelkader Amouri, confirmed the return of 1350 students to Kafr Batna School, 175 students to Hafez al-Zahabi School, 750 students to Saqba School, 8000 students to al-Horjelah accommodation center’s School, and 1240 students to al-Doueir accommodation center’s School.

Three schools will be rehabilitated and opened in Harasta in the coming 15 days, Amouri said, adding that the process of rehabilitating schools with minor and moderate damage in the Eastern Ghouta is still going on by leaps and bounds.

Amouri said the Arab country’s education ministry made steps to address the needs of the students in Ghouta who were studying the official curriculum and compensate for the classes they missed.
