Iran, Oman to Hold Cultural Weeks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Officials from Iran and Oman agreed to make arrangements for holding cultural weeks as part of efforts to introduce the culture and history of the two nations.

Iran’s Ambassador to Oman Mohammad Reza Nouri Shahroudi and Abdul Aziz Al Rawas, the Omani sultan’s adviser for cultural affairs, held a meeting in Muscat for talks on closer cultural cooperation between the two Muslim nations.

Weighing plans for holding Iran-Oman cultural weeks, they agreed that the two countries’ diplomatic channels would make arrangements for the events.

Elsewhere in the meeting, the Omani adviser hailed Iranian moviemakers for attending the Muscat Film Festival.

The 10th Muscat International Film Festival (MIFF) was held in the Omani capital in late March.

Iran and Oman share age-old and close diplomatic, economic, and commercial ties.

Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said played an important role in facilitating the early stages of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), which led to a landmark nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in July 2015.
