Bahraini Opposition Group Urges Massive Participation in Anti-Regime Rally

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bahrain’s February 14 Youth Coalition, a major opposition group, urged the people of the Persian Gulf country to massively participate in a rally dubbed “the right to self-determination 2018” to voice their outrage over the Manama regime’s ongoing crackdown on dissent.

In a statement released on Sunday, the February 14 Youth Coalition called on people from all walks of life to attend the anti-regime rally due to be held on Thursday, May 31.

The opposition group said the event aims to underline the Bahraini people’s right to self-determination and voting for a democratic political system.

The rally against the Al Khalifa regime is planned to be held in Sitra near the capital, Manama.

Bahrain has been witnessing almost daily protests against the ruling Al Khalifa dynasty since early 2011, with Manama using heavy-handed measures in an attempt to crush the demonstrations.

Scores of Bahrainis have been killed and hundreds of others injured and arrested in the ongoing crackdown on the peaceful demonstrations.

Amnesty International and many other international rights organizations have frequently censured the Bahraini regime for the rampant human rights abuses against opposition groups and anti-regime protesters.
