In a draw held Thursday, Iran was drawn with powerhouse Qatar and Malaysia in Group A.
Group B consists of South Korea, Japan and Pakistan.
Group C sees Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong while Group D has Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, India and Iraq.
In the women’s tournament, South Korea is in Group A along with Kazakhstan, China, India and DPR Korea.
Group B has host Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia.
The Aug. 18-Sept. 2 Asian Games will be co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang.
