Ten Wounded in Manchester Shooting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Ten people are in hospital after a shooting in the Moss Side area of Manchester, in the United Kingdom.

Armed officers from Greater Manchester Police were called to Claremont Road at 2.30 am (local time) on Sunday and discovered several people had been injured.

The injuries range from minor to major, but most do not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

A number of people were in the area following the Caribbean Carnival, which finished some hours earlier, they added, SBS News reported.

Detective Superintendent Debbie Dooley said: "We currently have a number of people in hospital all being treated for different injuries but thankfully most do not appear to be life-threatening at this time".

"Officers are trying to establish exactly where this incident took place and who is responsible for such a dangerous attack.

"The Caribbean Carnival had been taking place earlier that day but had finished several hours prior to this incident occurring, which is why there were still a lot of people in the area."

The Caribbean Carnival is a street festival, complete with dance, music and costumes.

Officers remain at the scene of the shooting and police are now working to identify those involved.

Moss Side is in the south of Manchester, not far from the city centre.
