Iran Beaten by China at AVC Cup for Women

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was defeated against title-holder China 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-16) and failed to advance to the semi-final of the 6th AVC Cup for Women on Wednesday.

Liu Yanhan led China with 15 points including 11 kills from 21 attempts and 3 aces.

Neda Chamianian contributed 9 points for Iran.

“We played well according to our game plan. The next match will be much tougher for us because we have to play Thailand, one of the strongest teams in this tournament. We will do our best,” China head coach Shi Hairong said after the match.

Iran will play Australia on Friday.

The 2018 AVC Cup for Women is the sixth edition of the Asian Women's Volleyball Cup, a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA).

The tournament is being held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, from 16 to 23 September 2018.
