Minister Blames Regional Spy Agencies for Terror Acts in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi said the intelligence and security agencies of the US, Israel and some regional countries are behind terrorist incidents in the Islamic Republic.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an international conference on counter-terrorism in Tehran on Saturday, Alawi highlighted the enemies’ role in recent terrorist attacks in the country and said both terrorist currents and security agencies of the region are behind them.

The policies of the US and the Zionist regime of Israel and their support for the terrorist currents also a play major role in the terror incidents, the minister added.

He further highlighted the double-standard policy of the US, Israel and their allies in the region on terrorism and said from their point of view, terrorists who are acting in line with their goals, are not terrorists.

The second conference of six regional countries - Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Russia and China- on ways to counter the threat of terrorism kicked off on Saturday morning.

It aims to weigh plans to combat terrorism, share the experiences of participants, adopt new and effective regional approaches, promote regional cooperation, and push for the establishment of broad-based and sustainable peace and development.
