TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif warned the Israeli regime that its “dangerous” adventurism in the bombing of Syria could result in a military conflict in the region.

“There is adventurism on Israel’s side, and adventurism is always dangerous,” Zarif said in an interview with the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper published on Wednesday.

Iran is in Syria at the invitation of the Syrian government, while Israel is violating Lebanese and Syrian air space, as well as international law, Zarif added, according to Press TV.

Asked about the possibility of a military conflict between Iran and Israel, the top Iranian diplomat said he does not see that coming, adding, “But we cannot exclude the possibility.”

In comments in June 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei described the Zionist regime of Israel as the main factor behind the current divisions in the region and among Muslim nations.

“It is the policy of the arrogant front to foment discord among Muslim nations and within the nations. The only way to counter this policy, formulated by the criminal America and Zionists, is to pinpoint enemies’ schemes and stand up to them,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated, noting that the Israeli regime is the main cause behind the existing divisions in the region and among Muslim nations.

“The Zionist regime was founded based on falsehood. They have forcefully and by means of coercion, threat and armed forces, expelled a historical nation from their own country. Is it possible to eliminate Palestine from the historical-geographical memory of the world?” Ayatollah Khamenei had stressed.

The Leader further stated that the Zionist regime “will not last long”, saying that all historical experiences imply that the Zionist regime will undoubtedly perish not in the too distant future.
