Omid Namzi Named Iran’s U-23 Coach

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Omid Namazi has been named as Farhad Majidi’s assistant in Iran U-23 Football team.

The 52-year has most recently worked as coach at Danish club FC Helsingør.

He left Iranian club Zob Ahan in October 2018 and returned to USA and shortly after was named as United States U-20 assistant coach.

His prior experience as a head coach includes the Chicago Red Stars, a women’s soccer team as well as the New Jersey Ironmen, an indoor team that played at the Prudential Center in Newark. He was also Carlos Queiroz’s assistant coach in Iran national football team.

Namazi, whose parents emigrated to the United States from Iran, will assist Majidi in 2020 AFC U23 Championship Thailand.
