Iran’s Tabatabaei Comes 1st at Spanish Chess Festival

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Mohammad Amin Tabatabaei from Iran finished in the first place at the sixth edition of the Sunway Sitges chess festival underway in Sitges, Spain.

In blitz tournament, he won the gold with eight points (six wins, two draws).

Indian chess players Erigaisi Arjun and Nihal Sarin finished in second and third place, respectively with 7.5 and 7 points.

The competition is taking place in the Spanish city from December 13 to 22.

The tournament is a 10-round Swiss. The total prize fund is 27,155 euros with a 5,000 first prize.
