COVID-19 Death Toll in Iran Nearing 4,000


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus deaths in Iran has risen to 3,993, the Health Ministry announced on Wednesday.

Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoosh Jahanpoor said at a press conference on Wednesday that the number of people who have died due to the novel coronavirus infection in the country reached 3,993 after 121 patients lost their lives during the past 24 hours.

He also noted that the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has risen to 67,286 following the detection of 1,997 new cases since Tuesday noon.

According to the spokesman, at least 29,812 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease so far and have been discharged from the hospital.

Among the coronavirus patients undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, 3,956 ones have critical health conditions because of more severe infection.

More than 1,446,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and the death toll has exceeded 83,000.
