Basslogh: A Popular Persian Delight

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Basslogh is a traditional sweet which is very popular in Iran. It can be served both as a desert or a sweet with tea.

Ingredients

150gr Coconut powder

100gr Walnuts

1 tsp. Oil

2 Cups cold water

½ Cup rosewater

100gr Starch

Dissolve the starch in cold water in a non-stick saucepan and stir on the heat to dissolve completely. Stir continually to avoid lumps.

When the mixture is soft and creamy, add the sugar, rosewater, and oil and keep stirring until it is as thick as dough in the middle of the saucepan. Remove from heat and mix in the walnuts; allow to cool.

When is has cooled down, place in the fridge for an hour until it hardens. Oil the palms of your hands and knead the dough a little. Shape it into small rolls of 3cms in diameter and roll in the coconut powder. Decorate with more walnuts.
