A team including of Persepolis and Esteghlal players defeated the team representing Iran at the 1998 FIFA World Cup 3-2 at the Azadi Stadium.
Ali Karimi, Behnam Abolghasempour and Javad Kazemian were on target for the Persepolis and Esteghlal selected team and Rasoul Khatibi and Khodadad Azizi scored for the Iran 1998 Team.
The match was held to honor Mehrdad Minavand and Ali Ansarian who recently died of COVID-19 at age of 45 and 43, respectively.
Minavand and Ansarian represented Iran national football team and Persepolis.
