Resolve Needed to Turn Iran-China Deal into Strategic Partnership: Qalibaf

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Carrying out the strategic cooperation plan between Iran and China requires a great deal of determination, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said.

In a post on his Twitter account on Sunday, Qalibaf hailed the 25-year cooperation agreement between Iran and China as a “major factor in generating power” within the framework of a balanced and economy-oriented foreign policy that focuses on Asia and Eurasia.

“Sadly, great opportunities have been missed so far, and now turning the strategic document into strategic cooperation requires serious resolve, so that the dear Iranian nation could reap economic benefits,” the parliament speaker added.

The foreign ministers of Iran and China on Saturday signed the 25-year agreement to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The Iran-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was announced in a joint statement during a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Tehran in 2016.
