TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hundreds of protesters raised slogans of solidarity with the Palestinian people by opposing and denouncing the Moroccan government's decision during a rally in Tangier on Monday, after a security pact was signed between Morocco and the oppressive regime of Israel.

Similar demonstrations were also organized by protesters in front of the Parliament headquarters in the capital, Rabat where protesters responded to the call of the "Moroccan Front in Support of Palestine and Against Normalization", which included 15 political, union and human rights organizations who have recently expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and denounced Moroccan normalization with Israel, Alaraby reported.

While solidarity vigils are banned in the country but similar protests took place in many cities of the Kingdom on Monday evening.

Last week, Israel and Morocco signed an agreement that lays the foundation for security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and future arms sales.

The memorandum of understanding between Israeli defense minister Benny Gantz and his Moroccan counterpart Abdellatif Loudiyi was signed on Wednesday in Rabat, as part of the first official visit by an Israeli defence minister to one of the Arab states that normalized ties last year.

Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan signed agreements to normalize relations with Israel in 2020 as part of the so-called Abraham Accords, which were brokered by the Trump administration.

Palestinians and Muslims worldwide view the agreements as a betrayal.
