COVID Daily Deaths in Iran at Lowest Level in 9 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from the coronavirus in Iran stood at the lowest rate over the past nine months on Saturday with 58 fatalities.

The Iranian Health Ministry put the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country at 130,124 on Saturday, saying the disease has taken the lives of 58 patients over the past 24 hours, the lowest toll since March 12.

Over the past 24 hours, 2,157 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 463 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 5,916,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,131,000 ones who have contracted the disease.

Some 3,278 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that nearly 58 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 47.92 million have received the second dosage, and over 1.22 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 265 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.26 million.
