Nearly 700 New COVID Cases Hospitalized in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients who have been admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours stood at around 700, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

The new figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 6,279,400 following the detection of 11,851 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 697 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

At least 6,088,300 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 132,303, saying the disease has taken the lives of 29 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 1,267 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units, it said.

The ministry added that over 60.56 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 53.79 million have received the second dosage, and more than 15.54 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 359 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.63 million.
