Iran Decries US for Bringing Up New Subjects in Vienna Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian took a swipe at the US for raising new subjects in the course of Vienna negotiations on the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal, highlighting Tehran’s resolve to clinch a good, robust and sustainable agreement.

In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Amirabdollahian and Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Thani talked about the latest bilateral and regional developments as well as the state of the Vienna talks.

The two foreign ministers underlined the necessity of seriously pursuing the agreements reached by the two countries during the Iranian president’s recent meeting with the Qatari Emir in Doha.

Regarding the Vienna talks, Amirabdollahian criticized the US for raising new issues and underscored that Iran keeps making efforts to reach a good, robust and lasting deal.

In the conversation, Qatar’s top diplomat stressed the importance of Tehran-Doha relations and also the positive results of the recent visit by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Qatar.

He also noted that the efforts by Iran and other parties to the Vienna talks to reach a deal are important.
