Iran Futsal Coach Shamsaei Not Happy with Result against Indonesia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran futsal coach Vahid Shamsaei is dissatisfied with the result against Indonesia.

Iran defeated the East Asian team 5-0 in Group C of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Kuwait 2022 on Wednesday.

Shamsaei, however, is coy about Iran’s title chances with the Iranian futsal legend saying he wants his players to be more clinical in front of goal.

“The first game is always the hardest as we want to start the competition on a winning note,” said Shamsaei.

“Initially we had four players down with the flu and had to adjust our line-up for the game against Indonesia. I’m happy with our performance but we missed plenty of chances to score. We should have finished the game with more than five goals."

Indonesia kept Iran at bay in the closing stages of the second half but Shamsaei said his team came prepared for all types of scenarios.

“We had a plan for every single moment of the game. We predicted that Indonesia would use the power play and that they were good at defending. Our strategy played to our favor and it’s just a matter of fine-tuning specifics for the following games.

“We came here to win and also it’s a matter of playing and enjoying the game. We will certainly put in a better performance in the next two matches,” Shamsaei added.
