Haddadi Undergoes Surgery on His Achilles Injury

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran basketball national team captain Hamed Haddadi underwent successful surgery on his Achilles injury.

Haddadi, who plays in Sichuan Blue Whales, suffered a foot injury in the match against Jilin Northeast Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Wednesday and was later diagnosed with an Achilles tendon rupture.

He will miss two key matches against Japan and China in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 from the Asian Qualifiers.

Team Melli is scheduled to play Japan in its away match on February 23 and will face China three days later.

Haddadi’s absence is a big blow to Iran since the Persians sit third in Group F.
