Al Hilal Coach Diaz Praises Resilient Foolad
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ramon Diaz applauded his players for their commitment and passion after Al Hilal SFC defeated tough Foolad 1-0 to advance to the AFC Champions League 2022 (West) semifinals on Thursday.
Moussa Marega’s 87th minute winner took Al Hilal into a semifinals meeting with Qatar’s Al Duhail SC on Sunday and Diaz said the players deserved the victory against a resilient Foolad.
“The players played with total commitment and passion. It has not been easy for them to go straight into the AFC Champions League after the FIFA Club World Cup.
“They have played a match every three days but remained focused against Foolad. We faced a very strong team who made it very intense for us,” said Diaz.
Matchwinner Marega said the focus now will be recovering in time for the semifinal.
“We are tired after playing so many matches but we have to recover and be ready for the semifinals.
“We did well against Foolad, who was very tough opponent. My goal was the result of teamwork and having advanced to the semifinals, we must be ready to go again,” said Marega.
