Situation with Ukraine Is Difficult Now: Kremlin
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – China has impressive mediation potential but the situation with Ukraine remains complicated, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.
"China has a very effective and impressive potential for mediation, and China's recent diplomatic successes have eloquently demonstrated this. But the situation with Ukraine is still difficult, so far there are no prospects for a peaceful settlement," the Kremlin spokesman said, commenting on recent statements by French President Emmanuel Macron, who said that Beijing's efforts could help resolve the Ukrainian crisis peacefully, TASS reported.
Peskov added that Moscow, given "the position, official and unofficial, that has been communicated to Kiev," did not yet have "any other way but to continue the special military operation."
Earlier, Macron, who had arrived in China on a state visit on Wednesday, said that he hoped that Beijing's mediation would bring all sides to the negotiating table.
