Iran, Russia Can Become Regional Hub of Food Exports: VP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber proposed the idea of turning Iran and Russia into the hub of export of certain foodstuffs in the region through joint production and investment.

In a meeting with Russian president's special aide Igor Levitin, held in Tehran on Saturday, Mokhber hailed an increase in the exchange of political and economic delegations between the two countries.

Pointing to the good progress in the implementation of joint projects, he noted that the Iranian and Russian president’s serious and constant attention has resulted in the removal of the obstacles and accelerated the implementation of the bilateral agreements.

Mokhber also stated that joint production and investment could turn Iran and Russia into the hub of export of a number of foodstuffs in the region and enable them to satisfy part of the demands of the regional countries.

For his part, Levitin expressed Russia’s readiness for joint investment with Iran in the transit sector and for greater efforts to complete the joint transportation projects.

The special presidential aide further noted that Russia is prepared to sign bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements with Iran to carry out various projects.

It was the fifth meeting between Mokhber and Levitin during the past six months.
