Lebanese MPs Laud Iran-Saudi Détente

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Lawmakers representing various groups from the Lebanese Parliament hailed the positive impacts of rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia on all regional countries, including Lebanon.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian held a meeting with a group of Lebanese lawmakers from various parliamentary fractions at the Embassy of Iran in Beirut on Thursday.

The Lebanese MPs described the meeting as a positive initiative and a step towards boosting relations between Iran and Lebanon.

They welcomed the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia on the restoration of diplomatic ties, saying such cooperation will have a positive impact on all countries in the region, including Lebanon.

The Lebanese parliamentarians also outlined the situation and developments in Lebanon.

After listening to the views of the lawmakers from various political factions, Amirabdollahian pointed to the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia and its positive implications for the region, as well as the stances of Iran on Lebanon.

He also invited all Lebanese parties to establish dialogue to resolve the existing problems in the Arab country, particularly the election of a president.

The foreign minister described Iran as a friend of Lebanon in difficult times and underlined Tehran’s readiness to help resolve Lebanon’s problems, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
