Iran, Iraq Vow Justice for General Soleimani's Assassination: Judicial Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and Iraq are determined to seek justice for the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani in January 2020 and ensure that those responsible do not evade punishment, a senior judicial official said.

Kazem Gharibabadi, the Iranian Judiciary's deputy for international affairs, made this statement in a television program on Wednesday, emphasizing that it is unacceptable for a criminal in the United States to avoid trial. He stressed the importance of delivering "justice."

Gharibabadi further asserted that the determination of Iran and Iraq will prevent the perpetrators from committing similar crimes.

General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Qods Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, the acting commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as the Hashd al-Shaabi, were assassinated in Baghdad during a US attack on January 3, 2020.

It has been reported that this terrorist attack was carried out under the direct order of the former US president.
