Iran Advances to 2022 IWBF World Championships Semis
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran edged Germany 70-68 at the 2022 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) World Championships quarterfinals on Friday.
The Iranian wheelchair basketballers have already lost to Britain 90-59 and to 2020 Paralympics champion, the US, 82-74. They have also defeated Iraq 83-41, France 89-79 and Germany 70-68. Iran will meet the winner of the Netherlands and Canada in the competition’s semifinals.
Iran also booked its place in the 2022 Paralympic Games as one of the top four finishers.
The 2022 IWBF World Championships are being held in Dubai, the UAE.
The competition was originally scheduled for November 16 to 27, 2022, but was postponed to June 9 to 20, 2023.
