Iran Freestyle Team Crowned Champion of U-17 Worlds

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s freestyle wrestling team claimed the title of the U-17 World Championships held in Istanbul, Japan.

After two successive non-podium finishes, Iran bounced back in style and clinched the team title with 156 points.

Impressive performances led Iran to claim a total of six medals, distributed as two golds, two silvers, and two bronzes.

The US also won six medals -- three golds and three bronzes -- and took second place with 126 points.

Japan came third at 106 points with two gold medals and one silver.

Sina Khalili in the 65kg and Ahora Khateri in the 45kg won Iran’s two gold medals.

Iran’s Sajad Pirdayeh in the 60kg and Abolfazl Hosseini in the 71kg snatched two silver medals.

Toohid Noory in the 92kg and Sam Reza Sayar in the 48kg seized two bronze medals.
