In a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian expressed Tehran’s readiness to broaden ties and expand cooperation with Amman.
“Considering the existing capacities, there are ample opportunities for bilateral and regional cooperation” between Iran and Jordan, Amirabdollahian stated.
Pointing to the “positive regional atmosphere” and the course of improvement of Iran’s relations with the Arab and Islamic countries in the region, the foreign minister expressed hope that the ties between Iran and Jordan would also grow to fulfill the interests of the two nations.
For his part, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan Ayman Safadi said his country favors “good and brotherly” ties with Iran and seeks to open a new chapter in the bilateral relations.
He noted that Jordan and Iran face many “common challenges” in the region, calling for mutual cooperation to rise to them.
The relations between Jordan and Iran need to reflect the historical and brotherly bonds between the two nations, Safadi underlined.
