Geopolitical Changes Detrimental to Region, Iran Warns

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s top security official cautioned that any geopolitical change in the region will upset stability and exacerbate crises.

In a meeting with Secretary of Armenia's Security Council Armen Grigoryan, held in Tehran on Sunday, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure calm and security in the Caucasus region.

He warned that any geopolitical change in the region will bring about insecurity and instability and aggravate the crises.

Reiterating Iran’s policy of promotion of cooperation and interaction with neighbors to keep the region free from tension and clashes, Ahmadian said, “Explicit and constructive dialogue among the regional countries would pave the way for sustainable security, balanced development, and welfare and comfort of the people of the region.”

He also expressed Iran’s readiness to prepare the ground for meetings among regional states.

Grigoryan, for his part, highlighted Iran’s effective role in the establishment of peace and stability in the Caucasus, asking Tehran to keep playing a role in this regard.

Hailing the age-old relations between Armenia and Iran, he voiced Yerevan’s preparedness to broaden ties with Tehran in diverse fields.

The Armenian official finally called for the immediate completion of the joint economic, trade and industrial projects with Iran.
