Israel to Blame for Fallout of Crisis in Gaza: Iran’s FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran held the Zionist regime accountable for the disastrous consequences of deterioration of situation in Gaza as Israel is ruthlessly killing children and women in the besieged enclave.

In a telephone conversation with Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said the Zionist regime is committing war crimes by cutting off electricity and water to Gaza and preventing the delivery of medicine and foodstuff to the region.

Considering the massacre of women and children in the Gaza Strip, the Zionist regime is held accountable for the adverse consequences and the deterioration of conditions in the enclave, the top diplomat said.

Amirabdollahian also voiced Iran’s readiness to send humanitarian aid to Gaza, saying the UN is expected to take urgent action to dispatch water, food and humanitarian supplies to Palestinians in Gaza.

For his part, the UN chief said hundreds of the UN staff members in Gaza are in dire conditions and many of them have been killed in Israeli strikes.

Guterres said the UN is holding consultations with the other countries to reduce the intensity of bombardment of Gaza and prevent a major catastrophe in the region.

Expressing the UN’s opposition to the Israeli officials’ extremist policies, he stressed the need to recognize the right of Palestinians to decide their fate and form an independent state.

Officials in Gaza say the enclave faces humanitarian catastrophe with the power plant shutting down completely due to the depletion of fuel.

The Israeli regime has been pounding the Gaza Strip for a fifth day, killing at least 1,055 Palestinians.

The Zionist regime has pledged to launch a ground offensive in Gaza following Hamas’s surprise Al-Aqsa Storm operation.
