Afrooz Wins Iran’s Third Gold at 2024 World Para Athletics

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Saeed Afrooz seized Iran’s third gold medal at the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships on Wednesday.

Afrooz finished in the first place at the Men's Javelin Throw F34 Final, throwing 40.14 meters.

Colombian athletes Mauricio Valencia and Diego Fernando Medina claimed silver and bronze medals with 37.07 and 36.54 meters, respectively.

Iranian shot putter Amir Hossein Alipoor and runner Hajar Safarzadeh have already won two gold medals in the competition.

Held in East Asia for the first time and known as a crucial qualifier for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the Kobe 2024 Para Athletics World Championships has attracted over 1,000 athletes from 100 countries and regions competing in 168 events.
