Iran, Kazakhstan Stress Expanding Cooperation in Sport Sector

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sport officials from Iran and Kazakhstan emphasized the need for broadening cooperation in the field of sports and also implementing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries in this sector.

In his meeting with Iran’s Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Kioumars Hashemi on the sidelines of the meeting of the sports ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s member states which is being held in Almaty of Kazakhstan, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan Ermek Marzhikpayev said that there is a good and intimate relation between Iranian and Kazakh athletes.

Iran has made remarkable progresses in many sports fields, so that Kazakhstan can take advantage of the opportunities created, for instance, Iran is considered as a powerhouse in the world in the free- and Greco-Roman wrestling, Marzhikpayev added, IRNA reported.

Iran’s sports minister, for his part, said that the two countries have many commonalities in the fields of sports and physical education.

Iran is ready to hold a very good relations with Kazakhstan in all sports fields including championship, professional, local and native sports, Hashemi underlined.
