In an interview with IRIB, Larijani said the Judiciary must take decisive action against those who create insecurity, kill people, and vandalize public properties in the riots that have engulfed a number of cities in Iran in recent days.
It is necessary to draw a distinction between protests and riots, he added.
Larijani said while a group of people had held rightful protests against economic difficulties, a destructive and organized current stepped in to divert the economic demands and incite violence.
He stated that the criminal activities, such as killing people and arson attacks, closely resemble the methods used by terrorist groups like Daesh (ISIL or ISIS), warning that such violent measures would only harm the society, upset security and result in consequent economic stagnation.
Violent rioters favoring monarchy have vandalized public and private properties in a number of cities across Iran in the past recent days, killing some ordinary people and security forces and inflicting injuries on others.
The rioters backing monarchy have vandalized public properties, blocked streets, attacked the administrative buildings and Police stations, and injured a number of security and law enforcement forces.
