Slovenia Hails Iran as Center of Stability in Region

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Slovenian president commended Iran for its diplomatic efforts to reach a nuclear deal with world powers, and referred to the country as the center of stability in the region.

In a Wednesday meeting with Iran’s new envoy to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s President Borut Pahor praised the Islamic Republic for its policies and efforts to hammer out a deal with members of the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Describing Iran as a “significant and historical” country, Pahor noted that the Islamic Republic is “the center of stability in the region.”

He also voiced Slovenia’s willingness to hold further consultations with Iran in a bid to open up a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two nations.

Iran’s new Ambassador Morteza Darzi Ramandi, for his part, underlined that Tehran’s foreign policy is based on “constructive interaction” with the world, including plans to expand relations with the European Union and to bolster ties with Slovenia.

He also pledged that Iran’s diplomatic mission in Ljubljana will do its utmost to tap into the abundant political, economic, cultural and scientific potential for the enhancement of Iran-Slovenia relations.
