FIFA World Cup: Ecuador 2, Honduras 1
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Ecuador football team beat Honduras 2-1 in Group E of the 2014 World Cup, thanks to a brace from Enner Valencia.
In the match held at the Arena da Baixada in Brazil's Curitiba, Carlos Costly scored for Honduras in the 31st minute.
Three minutes later, Enner Valencia equalized the match and scored again in the 65th minute to give Ecuador a valuable victory.
“Even though we went behind, we got our goals at decisive moments and that put us in charge of the match. We’ll have to play as well or even better than we did today to beat France because they’re a side that have grown a lot in the last few months,” Ecuador coach Reinaldo Rueda said.
Ecuador moved into the second spot in the group with a game remaining against group-leading France, which has tallied eight goals and conceded two in a pair of dominating wins.
