Slobodan Kovac Satisfied with Victory over Serbia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national volleyball team coach Slobodan Kovac said he is satisfied with Sunday night victory over Serbia but he said that he knows how strong they are.

Iran earned a crucial win over Serbia 3-1 (27-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18) in the 2014 FIVB Men’s World Championship and advanced to Last Six on Sunday.

"As a Serbian, I know how strong they are and how good they can play, but we were lucky because Serbia played without the pressure and it was probably easier to win these three points,” Iran coach Slobodan Kovac told FIVB.org at the post match news conference.

“I was afraid how we will play after Poland's loss, but I'm happy for the result,” the Serbian coach added.

Slobodan Kovac’s men have been drawn in Pool G along with France and Germany as the world’s giants Brazil, Russia and Poland are in Pool H.

Iran has been scheduled to face Germany and France on September 17 and 18 respectively.

The top teams from each pool will qualify for the semifinal round.
