Turkish Cleric Blames ISIL Emergence on Israel
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Senior Turkish Shiite cleric Sheikh Salahuddin Ozgunduz pointed the finger of blame at Zionists for sponsoring the ISIL terrorist group with the aim of hindering the Islamic world’s progress.
“By forming and supporting the ISIL Takfiri group, the Zionists are now employing that as an instrument, and pursuing their objectives in this way,” the Turkish cleric told the Tasnim News Agency.
He also called for concerted efforts by the Muslim nations to counter the growing threat of Takfiri groups, urging both “military and cultural” approaches to combat the threat.
“Apart from the military confrontation with the Takfiri groups, cultural approaches are needed to prevent young people from being lured by the ignorant ideas of those groups,” he added.
Earlier in November, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said the Takfiri groups have resurfaced to serve the interests of the arrogant powers, and called for a “scientific, inclusive” movement to eradicate the threat of Takfirism.
“The Takfiri movements and their sponsoring states are utterly serving the arrogant powers' objectives, namely (the objectives of) the US and the European colonialist governments as well as the Zionist regime (of Israel). They are practically serving them under an Islamic guise,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated.
