Iran, Poland Keen to Boost Agricultural Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian and Polish officials in a meeting in Tehran explored avenues for stronger cooperation in agriculture, with the Polish side showing enthusiasm for easier access to Iran's market.

A Polish delegation, led by the European country's Undersecretary of State Katarzyna Kacperczyk, held a meeting with Iranian agriculture officials in Tehran on Monday.

At the gathering, Head of Iran's Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO) Eskandar Zand, hoped for closer cooperation between Tehran and Warsaw in the field of agriculture.

Kacperczyk, for her part, highlighted Poland's remarkable progress in agriculture over the past 25 years, saying the European country is ready to share its experience with Iran in food production, agricultural modernization and food storage industry.

She said Poland is one of the few countries that produces meat in compliance with the Islamic rules (Halal meat).

While talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) for a comprehensive deal on Tehran's peaceful nuclear program are near the final stages, more foreign companies are impatient to seize the opportunity of investing in Iran's lucrative market as soon as the sanctions are terminated.

Iran and the six nations are in talks to hammer out a lasting accord that would end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's nuclear energy case, resulting in the removal of the sanctions the West has imposed on Iran in the past.
