Third Set against Iran Was Disappointing: USA Coach John Speraw

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – USA coach John Speraw slammed his team due to disappointing performance in the third set against Iran in the 2015 FIVB World League.

USA lost to Iran in straight sets (25-19, 29-27, 25-20 ) in Tehran's Azadi Stadium Friday night.

It was USA's first defeat in the current FIVB World League.

"I was forgiving of my team for not winning the first set because I think this environment in unique," Speraw said.

"The second set we played better, but we made a series of plays that I think we normally wouldn't make… The way we played the third set was very disappointing.

"We didn't serve very well tonight. Iran just sides out at such a high rate. They are such good attackers and setters. That second set we lost and we sided out at 76 percent, which is going to win just about every single set the rest of the summer," he added.
